Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1614965A2] A burner for solid fuels, especially biomass fuels, has a horizontal flat fire bed (8) which extends out of the boiler at both ends and over which the fuel is moved using scrapers (20) fitted to an endless chain drive (18). The scrapers are designed to prevent jamming by non combustible items such as nails and stones and the speed and position of the scraper drive is set to best suit the type and consistency of the fuel. The ash is dropped into an ashcan (10) under the boiler.
