Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2004093756A1] Apparatus for warming a catheter (18), consisting of a pump unit (14), that includes a non-disposable pump drive (17) and a disposable pump (15), removably couplable to the pump drive, having interior and exterior volumes (40, 41) between which liquid is transferred uni-directionally on operation of the pump drive, and a ventilation unit (20) that allows gas passage between the pump and surroundings of the pump while preventing passage of the liquid. The apparatus further includes a heating unit (16), having a non-disposable section (21) including a heating element (80) and a temperature sensor (90), and a disposable heated section (19), removably couplable to the non-disposable section, configured to transfer the liquid between an inlet (61) and an outlet (59), and to maintain the liquid in good thermal contact with the heating element and the temperature sensor when coupled to the non-disposable section. The disposable tubing, pump, heated section, and the catheter, form a closed circuit for the liquid.
