[origin: CA2520578A1] Disclosed is a fuel composition containing a major quantity of gasoline havi ng a maximum sulfur content of 150 ppm by weight, and a minor quantity of at least one gasoline additive having a detergent effect or a valve seat wear- inhibiting effect. Said gasoline additive comprises at least one hydrophobic hydrocarbon radical having an average molecular weight of 85 to 20,000, and at least one polar group. The fuel composition further contains at least one lo w alkanol at a moiety of about 5 to 75 percent by volume.
