[origin: EP1616833A2] The elevator system, with a cabin (1) for passengers and/or freight, has a number of flat and parallel carrier belts as a link between the cabin and a counterweight (2) and operated by a drive motor (4). The belts are aligned on parallel vertical planes (6.1) at an angle to the horizontal main axis (13) of the cabin and/or the main counterweight axis. Carrier roller systems are mounted to the cabin and the counterweight, at least one having several neighboring carrier roller units (8.1,8.2) each with a carrier roller, with the horizontal carrier roller axes each swinging around a vertical axis (16).
