Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1616982A1] The knitting system (1), at a knitter, has compound needles (2) each with a hook (7) at one end of the needle shaft (6) and a sliding tongue latch (8) to open and close the hook. The needles can be moved along one direction, and along a second direction at right angles to the first. A sinker (14) moves within the needle channel (15), with a narrow side (19) against the back (17) of the needle, to shift it on the second direction.
