Abstract (en)
For the production of a mineral fiber web, for thermal and/or acoustic insulation applications, the web (20) with a setting bonding agent has two surfaces (22,24) with the fibers overwhelmingly aligned in the production direction (26). The web is folded into serpentine pleats and one edge is cut parallel to one of the surfaces so that the mineral fibers are aligned at right angles to the newly-formed secondary surface, and the severed edges (50,52) are separated before the compressed web enters the kiln (62) where the bonding agent is hardened.
