Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1619298A2] The two turbulence channels (6.R) at the edges of the turbulence generator (5) are separate from the other turbulence-generating zones (10). They (6.R) are connected to outside supply lines (13), to set up edge flows (14). The supply lines (13) emerge from the start and end of the flow distribution unit (3). The profile of fiber orientation is controlled right across the running direction (L) of the web. To this end, the volumetric flowrate in the side lines (13) is adjusted by valve actuators (15, 16), hence varying the edge flows (14). The main central zone of the turbulence generators (5) is undivided by the arrangement. Each side valve is an actuated throttling valve (16). Between the distributor (22) and turbulence generator there is a pipe distribution grid (17) and a machine-wide intermediate chamber (18). Further variants based on the foregoing principles include: a dilution unit dosing sieve water for local control of consistency, and a mixing chamber arrangement.
