[origin: WO2004101920A1] The invention relates to a motor vehicle door lock which is provided with a safety catch (1, 2) essentially comprising a rotary door latch (1) and a retainer (2). The lock also comprises a catch bolt (5) which interacts with the rotary door latch (1) and runs into an inlet opening (6). The inlet opening (6) is provided with at least one damping element (8) for the catch bolt (5). According to the invention, the damping element (8) functions at the same time at the damping stop for the rotary door latch (1).
