[origin: WO2004101923A1] The invention relates to a motor vehicle door lock comprising a locking mechanism (2, 3) that is accommodated inside a housing (1), e.g. a lock case (1), and a reinforcing element (5) for the locking mechanism (2, 3). According to the invention, the reinforcing element (5) absorbs forces acting upon the housing (1) in a torque-free manner relative to the locking mechanism (2, 3).
