[origin: WO2004100318A1] The invention relates to a contact assembly (105) for supplying an operating alternating voltage that has been generated from a direct current voltage by a supply circuit to an electroluminescent illumination assembly (103). Said assembly comprises at least one planar capacitor, which is mounted on one surface of a carrier plate (101) and has a base electrode, an insulation layer, a pigment layer that is luminous during operation and a transparent, electrically insulating top electrode, in addition to a transparent, electrically insulating protective layer (120) that covers the planar capacitor. On one surface of the carrier plate (101), the contact assembly is equipped with at least two adjacent electrically conductive contact surfaces (124) that are not covered by the electrically insulating protective layer (120), one of which has an electrically conductive connection to the base electrode and the other an electrically conductive connection to the top electrode of the planar capacitor or capacitors, in addition to a plug element (106) on the carrier plate side, said element having a body (108) consisting of an insulation material, at least two electrically conductive contact elements (128) and at least two electrically conductive plug-in connection elements (130). The plug element is mounted on the carrier plate (101) of the electroluminescent illumination assembly (103) in such a way that one respective contact element (128) forms an electric contact with one of the contact surfaces (124) of the electroluminescent illumination assembly (103) and its body (108) covers the contact elements (128) and the contact surfaces (124) in a contact-proof manner.
