Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004102064A1] The invention relates to a light source comprising a plurality of light-generating elements (6) and a support (5) that carries said elements, in addition to a surface-defining pressure-resistant base element (1), which in supporting zones is mechanically connected to the support in such a way that pressure on the surface is diverted by the base element to the support. According to the invention, the support and base element form a plate-shaped unit and the supporting zones are essentially distributed over the entire surface of the light source. The base element can be plate-shaped and have a plurality of cavities (2) that penetrate said element, the cavities being arranged to coincide with the arrangement of the light-generating elements. The light source is extremely flat and intrinsically pressure-resistant, so that it can be mounted on designated surfaces, such as carriageways, runways and taxiways of airfields, footpaths, or corridors and walls of buildings, without for example being integrated into recesses and without constituting a substantial obstacle for wheels rolling over its surface, or causing a person to stumble and sustain an injury.
