[origin: EP1624106A1] An assembly applies a liquid or paste coating to a moving paper web as it passes around a revolving drum. The assembly has an application station (4) followed by a doctor blade (5), and a base frame with side-arms supporting the drum. The applicator and/or doctor blades are supported by the base frame (3) over part or all of their entire length. The applicator and doctor blade rest on a single part of the base frame. The base frame is hollow and open towards the drum. The base frame is capable of safely supporting a person.
