Abstract (en)
The crankcase is connected to at least one centrifugal separator integrated in the valve cap (3), cylinder head (4) and/or cylinder block of the internal combustion engine. All functional surfaces of the centrifugal separator are formed by already existing components of the internal combustion engine. A venting flow contaminated with oil is fed from the crankcase to the centrifugal separator as a result of a pressure gradient. The venting flow is fed tangentially so that oil is separated. The separated liquid components (15a,15b) are removed by gravity from the separator chamber (8a,8b), while the gas components (16a,16b) are evacuated from the separator chamber. An independent claim is included for an internal combustion engine.
