[origin: WO2004101327A1] The invention relates to a head airbag arrangement for a motor vehicle, comprising a gas bag which is arranged in a covered manner between a roof lining (12) and a roof rail (14) when in a folded state, and a gas generator (18) which is used to inflate the gas bag (20) with propellant in the case of an accident. According to the invention, the gas bag (20) comprises a tubular-shaped, elongate pre-filling chamber (22) which can be inflated by means of transversal expansion for edge-sided retraction on the roof lining (12) and a protective chamber (24) which can be impinged upon by propellant via lateral flow openings (60) of the pre-filling chamber (22) through an outlet area (54) which is opened when the roof lining (12) is retracted, and which can unfold in a downward direction in order to ensure a reliable unfolding of said head airbag arrangement.
