Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2004099720A1] The aim of the invention is to simplify destination input in a motor vehicle navigation system, whereby the user is provided with useful additional information in order to specify ambiguous destination data. Said navigation system (1) comprises means for inputting a destination (2), a navigation module (3) for planning a route and means for reproducing information (4), especially information relating to a location, additional location information and route information. The means for inputting a destination (2) support a hierarchically interactive destination input, providing the user with a choice of additional more specific information in the event of ambiguous textual destination inputs provided alternative destination information is available until a clear destination input is achieved. According to the invention, the textual destination inputs are stored with corresponding geographic coordinates. The geographic coordinates are used to determine additional information in order to specify destination alternatives.
