Abstract (en)
A wet method for the production of natural fibre board in which the aqueous slurry obtained by pulping the raw material is treated with polyethylene oxide (preferably in aqueous solution) before being formed and dewatered, cut to size and dried and/or hot-pressed and/or subjected to other post-treatment. A wet method for the production of natural fibre board by softening and pulping the raw material (e.g. chippings) with steam under pressure, forming and dewatering the resulting slurry (up to 99% in water) in a moulding machine to give a fibre cake, cutting to size, drying (especially in a dryer channel) to give fibre insulating board or hot-pressing to give hardboard, or forming blanks for such hardboard by post-treatment (e.g. conditioning, moistening and/or heating). In this method, the aqueous fibre slurry is inoculated with polyethylene oxide (PEO). (preferably in aqueous solution) before the forming stage.
