An automobile heating system has two or more modular units (11-14) one or more of which is an electrical positive temperature coefficient element (2) with electrical contacts and a heat transfer element. The elements forming the first group (11, 12) are supplied by a low voltage source, while the second group (13, 14) of elements draw energy from a high voltage source.
