[origin: WO2004103655A1] The invention relates to a longitudinal cutting machine for cutting a web of material which is guided through the longitudinal cutting machine. Said longitudinal cutting machine comprises a cutting arrangement comprising at least one upper blade for the web of material which is guided through the cutting arrangement by means of the cutting points formed by the upper blade. The invention is characterised in that the blade (14) of the upper blade (12, 24) can be impinged upon by a cooling medium via at least one nozzle (19), said medium being directed towards the upper blade in such a manner that the temperature of the blade (14) does not exceed a predetermined temperature during cutting of the longitudinal cutting machine.
