Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2004105067A1] The invention relates to a safety switching device for the failsafe shutdown of an electric consumer, such as in particular an electrically driven machine. The safety switching device comprises a signal processing part (12) for picking up and evaluating a switching signal on the input side, said signal emanating e.g. from an emergency stop switch, in addition to at least one switching element (20), which is controlled by the signal processing part (12) to provide a switching signal on the output side for shutting down the consumer. The device is also equipped with a fuse (40) for suppressing retroactive voltage peaks that occur when the consumer is shut down. In one embodiment of the invention, the fuse (40) has at least a first and a second operating mode (72, 74), which can be activated as alternatives to one another.
