[origin: GB2402047A] A cleaning head such as for a floor tool of a vacuum cleaner, has a housing 50 with a floor engaging face. The floor tool has an outlet for attaching to, for example a suction hose or wand. The head is pivotally attached to the outlet eg by a linkage 60,61,62,65 which allows the outlet to pivot to operative positions in which it is either parallel to the floor when the head is in use, or extends upwardly at an angle away from the floor when the head is in use, or to an inoperative position as shown in figure 5 where it extends at an angle towards the floor when the head is held in its normal use orientation. This facilitates neat storage of the head still attached to the wand, when the wand is attached to the body of the appliance in known manner, when the head can lie alongside the body of the appliance.
