[origin: WO2004108492A1] A pedal system (1') for a vehicle is disclosed, comprising at least one pedal (5), mounted such as to pivot on an adjustment mechanism (7) with a drive unit (9), by means of which the pedal (5) may be adjusted to match the separation distance to an operator. A pedal release device (23) is provided, which automatically releases a mounting of the at least one pedal (7) on the adjuster mechanism (7) on a crash-induced displacement of the adjustment mechanism (7) in the direction of the vehicle interior (22).
