[origin: EP1629942A2] The belt grinding machine has a belt on two rollers (2, 6), of which one (2) is connected to a drive (4, 5), while the other (6) can be moved to exert a variable tension on the grinding belt. It can be pressed against the belt by a tensioning device (7), which has at least one guide device (12). This guide device has a flexible variable-length cylindrical jacket, and an air spring (11) connected via a rigid end plate to the tensioning roller.
