[origin: EP1630472A2] An air-inflatable balloon with a light-source at its center, consists of number of sections (5) which form meridians and are joined together to form a spherical-shaped body. The sections (5) of fabric are joined to one another along a meridian line (6) of the balloon (1) by high-frequency (HF) welding, which secures melting of at least one thermoplastic inter-layer along a connection- and/or overlap-zone of two adjacent sections (5) so that an air-tight join is secured along the weld-seams (6).
