Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004109059A1] A retaining element (10) for a round shank bit (1) on a milling machine, comprising a number of round shank bits (1), each with a bit head (3), a bit shank (4) and at least one retaining element (18) along a bit axis (2). The bit shanks may each be introduced along the bit axis (2) thereof into a drilling (12) in bit retainers (13), mounted on the milling device, such that the bit heads rest on the bit retainers (13) with a radially-projecting collar (5). The retaining elements (18) are arranged on an outer surface (17) of the bit shanks and the round-shank bits (1) may be retained in the drillings (12), by means of the retaining elements (18). A surface of a material may be milled in a milling direction, running parallel to said surface by means of the milling device, such that the bit heads engage in the material alongside and behind each other in the direction of milling. According to the invention, the play between the round shank bit (1) and bit retainer (13) and hence directly the wear on the bit retainer (13) may be minimised, whereby the retainer element (18) is made from an elastomeric material.
