Abstract (en)

The coupling head (1) for rail vehicles has a housing (2) which is closed off by an end plate (4). The endplate and the coupling housing are detachably interconnected. The coupling head housing has no construction details which apply to only one type of rail vehicle, while the construction details which do apply to rail vehicle type are provided in or on the end plate. A compensating element (6) is provided between the coupling head housing and end plate and has the cross sectional geometry of the end face (3) of the coupling head housing. An independent claim is included for a method for the mounting of a coupling head in which heating elements (9,11,13) are fitted in slots or holes in the end plate, and the pre-assembled end plate is then detachably fastened to the coupling head housing by connecting elements (5).
