Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2004062976A1] The invention relates to a system and a method for transferring transport containers (T) between the railroad and road, said system comprising a pallet (P) for receiving the transport container, a device for laterally displacing said pallet, and a railroad car (W) for accommodating the pallet and transporting it on a railroad. The inventive system comprises a pallet which is embodied in a rigid manner for static loads that are to be received while the superstructure/underframe of the railroad car is embodied in a light and flexible manner. The railroad car and the pallet can be interlocked by means of locking mechanisms (V), the interlocked combined system comprising the pallet and the railroad car being configured so as to resist bending due to existing dynamic and static loads. The inventive transfer method is characterized by the fact that a railroad car which is provided on the neighboring track (G) for receiving the pallet (P) lowers props to the track prior to receiving the pallet (P) in order to support the expected stress generated by the pallet, a pallet provided on a platform (B) is loaded with the transport container, the loaded pallet is transversally displaced onto the railroad car, is centered after being received thereupon, and is rigidly interlocked with the railroad car so as to prevent thrust due to dynamic and static loads, whereupon the props are retracted. Once the props have been lowered on the railroad car at the destination train station, the pallet is unlocked, pushed off the railroad car, and unloaded.
