Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2004109270A1] The invention relates to a sensor for determining a physical characteristic, such as the concentration of a gaseous component or the temperature of a gas to be measured, in particular the exhaust gas of internal combustion engines. Said sensor comprises a sensor element (14) that is fixed in a housing (12), the end section (141) of said element on the gas side being surrounded by a protective tube (13) and the end section on the connection side being surrounded by a protective casing (11), and a flange that protrudes radially for clamping the sensor onto a seal seat (21) that is configured on a conduit (10) for the gas to be measured. The aim of the invention is to reduce production costs by implementing simple production methods. To achieve this, the flange (131) is formed as one-piece on the protective tube (13). Preferably, the latter (13) is produced as a deep-drawn part and a cutting burr, which remains on the end of the part following the deep drawing process, is used as a clamping flange (131).
