Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004112002A1] The aim of the invention is to extract test signal sections, conforming with auditory tests, from an audio signal especially for non-intrusive tests for evaluating the quality of a transmission system. To this end, a temporal structure of the audio signal is analysed (10) in order to differentiate an information-carrying section of the audio signal from a preceding non-information-carrying section of the audio signal or a subsequent non-information-carrying section of the audio signal. A test signal section based on the information-carrying section of the audio signal is then produced (12). In this way, test signal sections conforming with auditory tests are achieved, said sections establishing the comparability with other auditory tests and reducing a too imprecise evaluation of the transmission system on the basis of system-immanent artefacts.
