Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005043692A1] Disclosed are powered crimping pliers comprising a support column (1) on which two crimping tools (2, 3) are mounted, one crimping tool (2) being stationary and the other one (3) being movable within a guide (4) of the support column (1), a signal-actuated motor (5) with a motor housing (6) that is rigidly fixed to the support column (1) and encloses an actuator (7), said actuator (7) being joined to the movable crimping tool (3), and a control mechanism for actuating the motor (5). The motor (5) is embodied as an electric motor which is provided with a rotor that rotates about an axis. A deformation sensor (8) is provided on the support column (1), at least one crimping tool (2, 3), and/or the actuator (7, 7.1) for detecting the mechanical deformation generated during the crimping process and converting the same into a signal that is proportionate to the extent of the deformation. Said deformation sensor (8) is connected in a signal-conducting manner to the control mechanism of the motor (5) and causes the movable crimping tool (3) to be returned to the initial position thereof when a signal occurs that reaches or exceeds a randomly adjustable value.
