Said device comprises communication means (2) and activation means (3), the activation of the latter (3) permitting messages to be transmitted by the communication means (2), said messages containing at least information relating to the position and speed of the vehicle (1). According to the invention: the communication means (2) are configured as part of a vehicle-based unit (5) for determining route tolls; the activation means (3) are configured in the form of a direction-indicator actuation element; and the messages are transmitted by the communication means (2) to the vehicles (11) by means of a control centre (6) that is designed to manage route tolls.
