Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2005004160A2] The invention relates to a method for updating software of a control device by flash programming of a flash memory of the control device via a serial interface, said flash memory comprising several segments. According to the invention, a request made to the flash programming is determined, operation of the flash programming is specified by an automatic state machine which defines the states and the transitions of the software and the availability, security and reliability requests of each state and each transition of the state machines are examined. The invention also relates to a corresponding automatic state machine and a computer program for automatic examination of the availability, security and reliability requests.
