Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005116408A1] The invention relates to a valve rotating mechanism for exhaust valves, especially for marine diesel engines, which is supported in a valve housing for the valve stem (1) between an upper and a lower drive element. Said valve rotating mechanism is linked with the lower drive element via a free-wheel device that transmits a rotation of the valve stem (1) during the closing movement. The mechanism is also supported in relation to the upper drive element via a rotation cylinder (15) which, when engaged with a stationary support cylinder (13), brings about the rotation of the valve stem (1). The rotation cylinder (15) and the support cylinder (13) engage with each other by means of a helical gearing, the rotation cylinder (15) being linked with the valve stem (1) via the free-wheel device and the support cylinder (13) being fastened on the housing.
