Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005010829A1] The invention relates to a method and device of the aforementioned type with which a high level of security against unauthorized use of devices is ensured. The aim of the invention is to enable a cost-effective and quick verification and to largely avoid verification processes that are a burden to the user. To this end, the invention provides that each individual has a document in which biometric data of the owner are placed upon a supporting material, and the supporting material contains at least one identifiable body whose data are acquired in a stipulated action radius in a contactless manner by an acquisition unit and are transmitted to at least one device. This device automatically loads, from a central memory, the biometric data of all individuals located in range into its unit-internal memory, and the invention provides that an identification of the individual and an authorization of their document ownership ensue on the device. The invention relates to a method and device for securing devices against access by unauthorized individuals, particularly for verifying the access authorization of players to gambling devices in a casino, during which biometric data of the individuals are evaluated.
