Abstract (en)

Method for coating passivated smooth or structured chromium surfaces on articles comprises: (A) activating the passivated surface by sputtering; and (B) coating the surface with a siloxane-containing sol to form a gel. An independent claim is included for articles with a water- and dirt-repelling gel coating on a chromium surface which are produced using the method.
