Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1498176A1] A building facade has an active photocatalytic coating with a first layer on a substrate incorporating a metal oxide, e.g. SiO2, ZrO2, Al2O3, Nb2O2, Ta2O3 or CaO, and a second layer of TiO2 particles. The first layer is generally free of TiO2 and contains at least 5 wt.% ZrO2. The first layer contains 50-95 wt.% SiO2 and 5-50 wt.% ZrO2, and a further metal oxide. The substrate is a polymer and/or a metal. The polymer may be from the group PVC, PP, PE, PMMA, PS, PC, SBR being a homo-polymer, co-polymer or polymer blend. An independent claim is included for the production of the above active photocatalytic coating material.
