Abstract (en)
[origin: FR2857670A1] A method of recovering one or more polymers in solution in a solvent by progressive introduction of a non-solvent into the precipitation medium. The non-solvent is introduced progressively into the precipitation medium and a phase separation into a continuous phase rich in solvent in which the polymer is dissolved and a dispersed phase consisting of droplets rich in non-solvent occurs, followed by a phase inversion in which the continuous phase is rich in non-solvent and the dispersed phase rich in solvent with dissolved polymer. The non-solvent is initially introduced in solely liquid form and in an amount Q' which is non-zero but below the amount Q required to cause phase inversion. It is then introduced, at least partially, in the form of vapour. An independent claim is included for a method of recycling one or more polymer based articles by turning into 1cm to 50cm fragments if necessary, placing the article or its fragments into a solvent capable of dissolving the polymer and recovering using the claimed method.
