[origin: WO2005014900A1] The invention relates to an apparatus for melt spinning, cooling, and winding up a thread formed by a plurality of filament strands, said apparatus comprising a spinning device, a cooling device, and a winding device. The spinning device is provided with a spinneret for extruding an annular filament bundle encompassing a plurality of filament strands. The cooling device is disposed below the spinning device to cool the filament strands, said cooling device comprising a blowing tube in which a stream of cooling air that flows from the inside towards the outside is generated starting from a porous blow jacket. In order to obtain a steady laminar stream for cooling the fine filament strands, the inventive blow jacket is surrounded by an additional jacket that is made of a material having a plurality of openings, resulting in the stream of cooling air being oriented without creating substantial flow resistance.
