Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005010624A2] The invention relates to a display device (1) for time-dependent processes, in particular, for displaying the need to replace a worn toothbrush. Said display device (1) comprises a reservoir (6), containing a liquid, and a porous indicator strip (7), provided, at a location, with a dye (8) which dissolves in the liquid (5) and, once dissolved in said liquid (5), colors the indicator strip (7) along the length thereof in a time-dependent manner. The material of the indicator strip (7), the liquid (5) and the dye (8) are adapted to each other, so that dye molecules (18) can adhere to the indicator strip (7), until the end surfaces (19) of the pores (18) are covered with dye molecules (21), whilst the remaining part of the dye molecules (21) continues to diffuse into the liquid (5), so that the adhering process continues in a time-dependent manner. A bright colour front is thus obtained.
