[origin: EP1647209A1] The chair backrest, especially for office furniture, has a backrest plate (1) and backrest carrier with the joint between them formed by embedding an end section (2,1) of the carrier in a plastics material of the backrest plate. The backrest carrier is composed of an upper section (2), with its end embedded in the backrest plate, and a lower section (3) secured to the chair support structure. The chair backrest, especially for office furniture, has a backrest plate (1) and backrest carrier with the joint between them formed by embedding an end section (2,1) of the carrier in a plastics material of the backrest plate. The backrest carrier is composed of an upper section (2), with its end embedded in the backrest plate, and a lower section (3) secured to the chair support structure. The carrier sections are locked together by an upper foot (2.2) and a lower shoe (3.1). The backrest plate has a shell structure, with armrests (1.1) and/or upholstery (1.2).
