Abstract (en)

To profile a multi-layer nonwoven (9), by altering its thickness and density, the web passed to the laying unit (3) is controlled to stretch and/or compress the web (8) delivered by the card (2), etc. The delivered web is stretched/compressed by a number of defined clamping points, at the profile structuring unit (1) between the card and web layer. The web is passed to a buffer at variable speeds, to be transferred to the laying unit at a constant speed.
