[origin: WO2005022573A1] The invention relates to a method for monitoring the contamination of insulating oil in load tap changers, whereby only the latest transformer load current is measured, and the transfer of rust to be expected is determined by means of calculation while taking the parameters specific to the load tap changer into account. This eliminates the need for sensors and other components inside the load tap changer.
