Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1652619A2] The tool has a drive shaft to drive a polishing pad (7) including a diaphragm (7.1). Force of the diaphragm is transferred perpendicularly to a lens surface by the polishing pad. The diaphragm is connected with a reinforcement unit (2), which is dimensionally stable and flexible in a direction parallel and perpendicular to a surface of the diaphragm. The unit is deformed by the pad into a toric form. An independent claim is also included for a method of operating an optical lens polishing tool.
