[origin: WO2005011416A1] Disclosed is a protective garment which is at least partly made of a metal ring mesh and comprises at least one of the following elements: - at least one strap-shaped means (10) for fastening the protective garment to the user's body; - means for stiffening the metal ring mesh; - means for reinforcing especially the end regions and edge areas of the protective garment. A long-lasting protective garment that meets hygiene requirements is created by the fact that at least one of said elements, i.e. the fastening means (10), stiffening means, or reinforcing means, is formed by a wave-like strap (30) which is interlinked with or connected to the protective garment or is inserted into the metal ring mesh.
