[origin: EP1655193A1] The device has clamping jaws (6, 7) movable on top of each other and/or apart to couple and/or uncouple the device from a hoisting cable and/or towing rope. Replaceable jaws (11) are attached at the jaws (6, 7) so that the jaws (6, 7) are engaged at the cable and/or rope. The jaws (6, 7, 11) have a concavely and convexly curved contact and anti surfaces (14, 13), respectively. The surfaces are curved in the form of a circular cylinder.
