[origin: EP1655424A2] In a process to prepare a surface for the installation of e.g. paving stones by initial removal of loose rubble or hardcore, the surface is cleared by two adjustable rails that slide back and forth with respect to each other while clearing the surface. The rails (1, 2) slide within their respective guide in which they are retained by a strap (8) under tension.
