[origin: EP1659213A2] A papermaking assembly has a headbox with a mixer station (12) in which two or more components of different consistency combine prior to discharge through a vortex generator (14) and outlet jet (16). The mixer stage has a series of channels with profiled sidewalls. Each mixer channel is deeper than it is wide, The mixer stage also has an incoming supply of water to dilute the suspension. The mixer (20) sidewalls are profiled with a corrugated or napped surface.
