Abstract (en)
A furniture item with height adjustable support surface has a coaxial support system with a height adjusting control shaft (5) linked to the height adjustment via a reduction gearing (8, 9). The kinematic linkage between the control and the support system includes a self locking action to secure the support surface at the selected height without any separate locking system. This can be achieved by choice of the pitch of a threaded height adjuster.
