A housing (5) of a first connector (1) has a receptacle chamber (8) for first contact elements (9) and a locking device (10). A slider (19) is arranged on the housing and forms a receptacle (29) for second contact elements (3). A second connector (3) has a receptacle (31) for first complementary contacts (32), and a second locking device (33). A holding device (20,36) does not allow the slider to slide so that the second contacts make contacts with second complementary contacts (34), until the first locking device is completely connected to the second locking device.

Steckverbindung umfassend - einen ersten Steckverbinder (1) , der - ein Gehäuse (5) aufweist und dem erste Verriegelungsmittel (10) zugeordnet sind, - einen Schieber (19) aufweist - einen zweiten Steckverbinder (3), der - eine Aufnahme (31) für erste Gegenkontaktelemente (32) bildet - zweite Verriegelungsmittel (33) aufweist - zweite Haltemittel (36) aufweist - zweite Gegenkontaktelemente (34) aufnimmt wobei die ersten Haltemittel (36) am Schieber (19) und die zweite Haltemittel (36) am zweiten Steckverbinder (3) außer Wirkverbindung gelangen, wenn die ersten Verriegelungsmittel (10) des Gehäuses 5 des ersten Steckverbinders (1) vollständig mit den zweiten Verriegelungsmitteln (33) am zweiten Steckverbinder (3) verbunden sind.
