[origin: DE10343060A1] A protective cowl (43) for a hand power tool, e.g. for an angle grinder is fitted around the output drive shaft (16) via a ratchet collar (45) which has a number of ratchet grip holes (48). A ratchet lever (30) is fitted to the motor housing to pivot about an axis orthogonal to the drive shaft and spring loaded (36) to press ratchet grips (32) into the ratchet collar. The user releases the ratchet grip simply by finger pressure on the tab end (38) of the ratchet lever. This enable the user to adjust the cowl setting without releasing grip on the tool. The ratchet lever is secured to the housing by one of the screw fasteners (18) which secure the end housing of the angle grinder.
