Abstract (en)

Communications cable is made up of pairs of wires twisted together and enclosed in insulation. Each pair is then twisted with others to form a larger cable (3). This is then wrapped in a band (4) of flame-resistant insulating material and a polyolefin layer (5) extruded over it. A sealed metal sleeve is fitted over this which is enclosed in a non-inflammable coating.
